Award of £8.3m ($17.3m) Ministry of Defence software contract
Infonic has been awarded a major contract with the EDS-led, ATLAS Consortium (“ATLAS”) for the supply of software licence and maintenance to the UK Ministry of Defence (“MoD”) totalling a minimum of £8.3 million ($17.3 million). Software with a value of £4.1 million ($8.5 million) will be delivered within the first 90 days of the contract with the balance comprising contracted maintenance and services to the value of £4.2 ($8.7) million over a 7 year period.
Under the terms of the contract, Infonic will provide ATLAS with its industry leading Geo-Replication software which will be utilised in the UK Defence Information Infrastructure (Future) project (“DII (F)”), which is managed by ATLAS and has been commissioned by the MoD.

About the DII (F) project
The DII (F) project will replace numerous individual information systems throughout the MoD with a single and efficient information infrastructure. It will also enable many of the defence efficiency measures under the UK Defence Change Programme to be achieved. These include Network Enabled Capability – the ability to improve the capability of the armed forces through a single network of information – announced in the UK Defence White Paper.
DII (F) will achieve this by extending into the operational arena, interfacing with battlespace systems and improving shared information between headquarters, battlefield support and the front line. DII (F) will allow greater interoperability between the MoD and its coalition partners, allowing more effective operational support than is currently available.
About The ATLAS Consortium
The ATLAS Consortium is responsible for delivering the DII (F) project for the MoD. ATLAS is led by EDS, with Fujitsu Services as a Tier 1 partner, General Dynamics, LogicaCMG, and EADS Defence and Security Systems Ltd (Cogent) as tier 2 partners, and IBM and HP as exclusive capability partners. ATLAS was awarded the contract for increment 1 of DII (F) in March 2005, with a budget, at that time, of approximately US$4.0 billion (£1.9 billion).
